Mark Twain's The Diaries of Adam & Eve
Edited and Adapted by Susan Sargeant

Featuring Catherine D. Dubord & Austin Tindle

Mark Twain wrote The Diaries of Adam & Eve in two parts.  The first, The Diary of Adam, was written in the 1890s.  Twain was then fifty-five years old.  His fortunes had begun to ebb away and his beloved wife, Olivia “ Livy”, began to experience failing health.  The Diary of Eve was written almost fifteen years later.  Twain had struggled over the years to find the right female voice for Eve and so had laid The Diary of Eve aside.   By now he had outlived three of his four children and last, his wife Livy died in 1904.  Alone and in his seventies, inspired and guided by his departed Livy, Twain found the perfect female voice to embody his Eve.
